GRIOTWORKS offers oral storytelling workshops, community based performances and digital media programs for youth and adults. Our mission is to use the art of storytelling as a tool for preserving cultural values, relaying histories and exploring solutions towards progressive change.
We currently work with schools, universities, health centers and community organizations to help these organizations accomplish cultural education and preservation goals through storytelling.
GRIOTWORKS is a member of the New Beginnings Nonprofit Incubator at Resources for Human Development, Inc. (RHD). RHD is a large diversified nonprofit organization, based in Philadelphia, that oversees roughly 150 programs. The New Beginnings incubator program provides small and startup nonprofit programs with a range of services and support designed to help them grow to achieve their mission.
GRIOTWORKS is responsible for all its own fundraising and receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
